Well, I’d anticpated that the geoblogosphere would be alight with the news that OS are (finally) being dragged in to theĀ 21st century… but I apprear to have been wrong in my assumption. The most excitemnet seems to have come from predictable quarters in theĀ press who for (I suspect), reasons related to their own agenda, have chosen to overhype and overegg the relatively paltry OS pudding on offer. Of course, we dont know any detail as yet so I may be being overly cyncial (surely not!).
Anyhow - question remains - did they jump or were they pushed (by TBL maybe?)
I have yet to hear the detail, but these are proposals aren’t they?
I hope they ultimately include free access for organisations without cumbersome licensing restrictions…

The announcement is here http://www.communities.gov.uk/news/corporate/1385429
This I think is a clearer indication of what they intend than what the Guardian would like.

So.. no big revelation really and not nearly enough (maybe! - will have to await fuller details) but certainly way too late in the day…
